The immigration law in Chile was updated in 2022, with a complete update of all the laws and decrees related to immigration :
- In April 2021, Chile approved a new immigration law, the law 21.325.
- This new immigration law was enacted on February 12th, 2022, when its reglamento, the decreto 296, was published.
- The decreto 23, published on March 4th, 2022, describes the different categories of tourist visas.
- The different categories of temporary residency visas are described in the decreto 177, published on May 14th, 2022.

More information and details
The official website of the immigration service has a page with a complete and up-to-date list of laws and decrees related to migration in Chile. However, we do not recommend spending time on this page, as it contains detailed texts to clarify specific issues, but not required for most of the applicants.
